American Illustration 30

I’m happy to post the news that two of my illustrations have been selected to be a part of the American Illustration 30 Annual!

From the announcement: This year’s distinguished jury included Nicholas Blechman, The New York Times Book Review; Rachael Cole, Schwartz & Wade Books; Michael Ian Kaye, Mother New York; Todd Oldham, Todd Oldham Studio; D.W. Pine III, TIME; David Saylor, Scholastic Inc. and Dean Sebring, Worth.

Thank you to American Illustration and the jury.

The illustrations were part of the series of drawings I did of the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade balloon blow up – Spiderman and Sponge Bob. Pretty appropriate, since I was an assistant editor for the Spiderman comics for one summer about a million years ago, and Sponge Bob is my personal favorite.

I was also featured on NBC news while making the drawings, along with my friend and fellow Studio 1482 member Margaret Hurst. Click the link below, courtesy Despina Georgiadis, to see the excerpt:
